The extension itself collects nothing. No personal data, no browsing history, no analytics, no cookies. I don't know who you are and I don't want to.
Don't Feed Me is a Chrome extension that hides algorithmic feed content on YouTube, X/Twitter, and LinkedIn. It runs entirely in your browser. It does not communicate with any external server.
None. The extension does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. It does not track which websites you visit, what you type, or how you use your browser.
The extension stores a small amount of data locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API. This includes your platform toggle preferences (which platforms you want feeds hidden on), Feed Me timer state (whether a timed session is active and when it expires), and a timestamp recording when you first opened the popup (used to hide a "Start here" hint after two weeks). This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to me or anyone else.
The extension does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no external API calls, no telemetry, and no crash reporting from within the extension.
The extension requests permission to run on youtube.com, x.com, twitter.com, and linkedin.com. This is required to hide the feed content on those sites. The extension does not request access to any other websites or to your browsing history.
If you find a bug or want to send feedback, there are two optional ways to do so. Both are entirely opt-in and only happen if you choose to use them.
Via the extension popup: the "Feed me bugs" button opens your default email client with a pre-filled message addressed to vigil@alexei.co.uk. Nothing is sent automatically — you write the email and send it yourself, just like any other email you send. The extension itself doesn't transmit anything.
Via the website form: the form at dontfeedme.app/report submits anonymously by default. If you fill it in and click "Send", the form data (which platform, what kind of issue, your description, optional browser info, and an optional email address if you want a reply) is processed by Netlify (the website host) and forwarded to my private inbox. Netlify retains the submission record on their servers in line with their own privacy policy. Don't include sensitive personal information in the form — there's no need to.
If this policy changes, I'll update the date at the top. The extension will always be free and will never collect personal data.
If you have questions about this policy or the extension, email vigil@alexei.co.uk.
